SNP Welcome NFU Scotland's Scottish Farming Manifesto

Farming A Priority For Re-Elected SNP Government

Commenting on the manifesto launched today by the National Farmers Union Scotland the SNP’s Richard Lochhead, the Rural Affairs and Environment Cabinet Secretary, said:

“I very much welcome the NFU’s manifesto that highlights how the next Scottish Government can ensure agriculture responds to the big challenges but also huge opportunities that lie ahead for Scotland’s farmers and crofters.

“The industry has a vital contribution to make in terms of delivering food security, energy security, maintaining our landscapes and helping to achieve a low carbon society. Our track record illustrates how the SNP Government has made agriculture and food a priority over the past four years. A re-elected SNP Government will continue our good working partnership with our rural sectors to deliver greater prosperity and support our rural economy.”
